Meet Magalhaes, Portugal's new 285€ mini laptop

This is Magalhaes, a new mini laptop developed as a result of the Magellan Initiative, a joint project between Intel and the Portuguese government.  The computers will be distributed to every Portuguese kid between 6 and 9 years old. The Magalhaes is pretty powerful for its size and price (you can read more here: http://blog.centopeia.com/2008/09/23/magalhaes/ ), and it looks cool too.

From the "curious signs" gallery: do Portuguese people weigh more when the elevator is going down?

I took a picture of this perplexing sign at the Elevator of Saint Justa in Lisbon.  It details the maximum load the elevator can take.  It states: 20 people when going up, 15 people when going down.  Still having trouble understanding why, and nobody could give me a reason.  There was a snack bar at the top, though...maybe it has something to do with that ;)
